Interference Mitigation by Adaptive Analog Spatial Filtering for MIMO Receivers

چکیده
Exposed to strong cochannel/adjacent-channel interference, digital multiple-input–multiple-output (MIMO) receivers require high-dynamic-range analog-to-digital converters (ADCs). Hybrid beamforming featuring spatial filtering before the ADCs can adaptively mitigate interference in both analog and domains; hence relaxing required dynamic ranges of ADCs. This article demonstrates effectiveness hybrid this mitigation utilizing adaptive minimum mean square error (MMSE) vector magnitude (EVM) as an optimization criterion. Extensive EVM measurements are carried out with a conductive setup using four-element 22-nm FD-SOI CMOS prototype MIMO receiver chip verify performance MMSE algorithm. Over-the-air (OTA) linear dipole antenna array half-wavelength spacing 2.4-GHz industrial scientific medical (ISM) band quantify improvement for real-world scenarios, e.g., having multipath propagation channel mutual coupling between elements. OTA results show that rejection 22.5 24.5 dB be achieved on average in-door laboratory environment modulator (VM) constellations 16 64 points, respectively.

Mitigation of Continuous Interference in Radio Astronomy Using Spatial Filtering
The contamination of radio astronomical measurements by man-made Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) is becoming an increasingly serious problem and therefore the application of interference mitigation techniques is essential. Most current techniques address impulsive or intermittent interference and are based on time-frequency detection and blanking. Continually present interferers cannot be cu...
متن کاملSpatial filter decomposition for interference mitigation
This paper presents a two-part decomposition of a spatial filter having to optimize the reception of a useful signal in the presence of an important co-channel interference level. The decomposition highlights the role of two parts of the filter, one devoted to the maximization of the signal to noise ratio and the other devoted to the interference cancellation. The two-part decomposition is used...
متن کاملOptimal Power Allocation and Active Interference Mitigation for Spatial Multiplexed MIMO Cognitive Systems
In this paper, the performance of an underlay multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) cognitive radio system is analytically studied. In particular, the secondary transmitter operates in a spatial multiplexing transmission mode, while a zero-forcing (ZF) detector is employed at the secondary receiver. Additionally, the secondary system is interfered by multiple randomly distributed single-antenna...
متن کاملA Novel Interference Rejection Method for GPS Receivers
This paper proposes a new method for rejecting the Continuous Wave Interferences (CWI) in the Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers. The proposed filter is made by cascading an adaptive Finite Impulse Response (FIR) filter and a Wavelet Packet Transform (WPT) based filter. Although adaptive FIR filters are easy to implement and have a linear phase, they create self-noise in the rejection of...
